Poem: In His Name

Poem: In His Name

In His Name

I took upon myself
the name of Jesus Christ.
I thought it would lead to
his eternal glory,
but instead it’s only
bugging my wife when I
insist that she calls me
by my new, proper name.
Plus, now I am starting
to get his divine mail,
so that’s a whole thing.
Taking upon his name
was not as straightforward
as preachers made it seem.
