Poem: Crime Scene Investigation
Crime Scene Investigation
Oh, pile of feathers,
can you tell me whether
it is true
what’s said of you?
For I have heard
you were once a bird.
I wonder what pain
caused your change?
Did a cat do
this to you?
Maybe a mower
rolled you over?
Did you do something bad—
perhaps you were a cad
caught by your lover
in the wings of another?
Who was on the prowl
for this murder most fowl?
Has the truth been blurred
becoming absurd?
But I’m assured
you were once a bird.
