Poem: Not to the Swift

Poem: Not to the Swift

Not to the Swift

I have wrestled with God so much
that I’ve gotten cauliflower ear
spiritually, so to speak,
but he still hasn’t given me
an inspiring, cool nickname.
So, I’ll don the singlet again
and advance back onto the mat.
We’ll go one more round together
again and again and again…
I want that new, awesome nickname
straight from the lips of the Big Guy.
I want to raise that title belt
high above my head and belong.
