Poem: Judgment Day/Fingers Crossed

Judgment Day/ Fingers Crossed

Jesus was my advocate
at the judgment bar of God.
When the facts were all laid out,
he loosened his tie a bit,
rubbed his eyes with both hands,
said it didn’t look too good,
and told me that I should settle.
I thought about demanding
counsel not kin to the judge,
or maybe going pro se,
but was told rejecting Christ
would just add to the charges,
so I guess I will go on
as a final act of faith.
